I caught my first commercial fish at the age of 13 while I was working for OSU. Over the years involvement in the politics of fish and access to fish has become nearly as important as at-sea-time so over the years I have been on numerous boards and committees including Currently: Chairman, Oregon Albacore Commission, Commissioner for the Port Of Bandon. I live in Coquille, Oregon with my wife Robin, daughter Leah and two grandsons Daryk and Kyler. I winter the boat in Charleston, Oregon.
The Peso II was Originally built in Ilwaco Washington in 1952 to replace the F/V Peso that was lost at sea in Alaska. I am the fourth owner. This is my fourth boat. When I first bought the boat a retired fisherman told me. "It is important to understand that a wooden boat represents the hopes and dreams of everyone who has had anything to do with it from the logger who fell the timber to feed his family, to the builders and the previous owners. Honor their work by caring for the boat." I do.
